Britney Concert Still Ridiculously AWESOME

I was able to go to the Britney Spears Circus Tour again this past weekend in NYC, and I have to tell you that it was even BETTER the second time around!

For her second North American leg of her tour, Britney and her team have worked out some of the kinks from the first time around. The biggest and best new change is the fact that there was an actual jumbo-tron that filmed Brit so everyone, even in the nosebleed seats can see her perform.

There were multiple wardrobe changes since the last time, and she looked even more happy and energetic! Her dancing was much more clean and precise!

I strongly urge everyone to go see her!!

Here is a video I took during the concert!

Audrina Leaves The Hills: Does Anyone Care?

Audrina Patridge is leaving The Hills everyone! OMG, what are we going to do!?!?

Seriously though, does anyone care about The Hills anymore?

Patridge says she is leaving to fulfill her dream to become an actress...she is starring in the film Sorority Row with Rumour Willis and other "Actresses."

Hmm....I think I smell a Hills reunion in about 2 years when no one will hire her...

Noel Gallagher Quits Oasis

Noel Gallagher, lead guitarist and songwriter for one of Britain's biggest bands, Oasis, has quit the group.

On his band's website he posted a note saying "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

Intense! Considering that Liam is his brother! The two have always been known to butt heads over their long career, but who'd have thought it would end the group!

Oasis had one of the best albums of the 90's with What's the Story Morning Glory?, which became a massive success all over the world. Although they continue to be very successful in Europe they have not had a hit in the USA for quite some time.

Looks like they won't have one in the upcoming future either...

Horror, Tarantino, Tops at Weekend Box Office

This past weekend saw two new horror films debut big, with The Final Destination and Halloween both arriving in the top 3.

The Final Destination grossed $28.3 million to take the #1 spot for the weekend, while Halloween took in an estimated $17.4 million to come in at #3. This is the biggest debut for a "Final Destination" movie, while the Rob Zombie directed Halloween becomes the second biggest opener in that franchise.

At #2 this weekend is Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, which grossed another $20 million to brings its two-week total to over $70 million.

DJ A.M. Found Dead

DJ A.M. was found dead in his apartment on Friday in NYC. The popular DJ who has had multiple high profile romances including Mandy Moore and Nicole Richie, had had a past drug addiction and when cops arrived they found various drug paraphernalia in the apartment.

Very sad, considering a year ago he escaped death when his plane crashed with Blink 182 Drummer Travis Barker.

Hiatus Coming to an End...

The last week has been ridiculously busy/fun/crazy, which is why there have been no recent blog entries! But starting Monday tune in to Morethanmusiq when we will be up and running again!

Miley Debuts BIG

As predicted, Miley Cyrus' new single "Party in the USA" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. That is gigantic! The only song standing in her way is the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," which, as mentioned before, breaks the record for the artists staying at #1 the longest, with 20 weeks in pole position.

Also new is Britney Spears' "Radar", the 4th single from her Circus album. It comes it at #90. This marks the first time since 2004 that Spears has 4 Hot 100 entries off of one album. She did it previously with her album In the Zone, which saw it's singles "Me Against the Music" (#35), "Toxic" (#9), "Everytime" (#15), and "Outrageous" (#79) enter the top 100.

5 Days Til Britney!!

On Monday I will be attending the Circus Starring Britney Spears tour for the second time this year, and I could not be more excited!!!

This is the second North American leg of her tour, and she has added some new stuff, including a performance of "Mannequin" in to the show!

I'll be going with a handful of friends who are all Brit fans so it should be a great night!!

In other Britney news, the pop icon was on David Letterman the other night, reading the Top 10 List. It was "The Top 10 Thing That Would Be Different If Britney Spears Were President."

It was funny, but I don't understand why she was in a bikini while doing it...it was kind of tacky...

Britney, you're a big enough star, you don't have to take your clothes off for an interview!

Strait to #1

Country Legend George Strait earns his 5th number one album this week, as his "Twang" debuts with 155,000 copies sold. This is also gives Strait his 23rd #1 country album, the most by any artist in history.

And FINALLY this week, a new album sells more than Michael Jackson. The King of Pop's "Number Ones" sold only 80,000 this week, down 19% from the week before.

Also new this week is Cobra Starship's third album "Hot Mess", which comes in at #4, thanks in part to the bands hit single "Good Girls Go Bad" featuring Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester.

Two Long Time Records Smashed

Jason Mraz and the Black Eyed Peas enter the history books this week, as Mraz's song "I'm Yours" and two jams by the Peas break longstanding Billboard records.

"I'm Yours" sees its 70th week on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the record set by LeAnn Rimes in in 1997-98 when her song "How Do I Live" spent 69 weeks on the chart.

The Black Eyed Peas break the record for longest consecutive stay at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as the enter their 20th week in pole position. 12 of those weeks were from their first single off their new album The E.N.D. "Boom Boom Pow," and now their followup "I Gotta Feeling" stays put for its 8th week in a row.

This beats out Usher's 19-week #1 reign back in 2004 when his songs "Yeah!"and "Burn" occupied the top spot.

Congratulations to both artists!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze. The actor turns 55 today. He been battling cancer for a while now, but at the moment he has been doing well. Let's all wish him more healthy birthdays to come!

Poll Update

Beyonce is still leading in the morethanmusiq poll, garnering 60% percent of the votes for her "Single Ladies" video, as the one to win the MTV VMA for Video of the Year.

Britney Spears is in second place with 26% of the votes for her "Womanizer" video, while Lady Gaga and Kanye West both have 6% for their clips "Poker Face" and "Love Lockdown."

Unfortunately there is no love for Eminem, who has 0% of the vote for his "We Made You" video.

There are 13 days left to vote so keep at it!

Mad Men Delivers

The season 3 premiere of AMC's Mad Men drew 2.8 million viewers Sunday night, to become the shows biggest ever episode to date.

I have not seen the show yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Recently the show caused a stir with one fairly explicit gay scene involving one of the characters.

There are a lot of great shows on TV right now, which one is your favorite? At the moment I would have to say True Blood; this season is just ridiculously crazy and has gone in a direction I could never have imagined.

But Entourage is still holding its own in my opinion. Although ratings are down from last season, the boys from Queens are still up to their old tricks, but their characters have begun to evolve.

Turtle has lost a boat load of weight, and is a lot more mature in the show. He now has a girlfriend and is no longer a hound dog like he use to be. This is probably the biggest new development in the show, and I think it's a good thing.

New Moon Trailer = HOLY CRAP THIS LOOKS AWESOME

Head on over to ew.com (Entertainment Weekly) to check out the new trailer for the upcoming New Moon movie. The second film from the Twilight series looks WAY better than the first, with a lot more intense action, character depth, and just all around greatness oozing out from every angle.

The film comes out in November, but seriously I can't wait, and I don't think any other Twilight fan can wait that long either.

It's going to be a longggg couple 3 months.

Follow the link to watch the video!

Mario's "Break Up" Breaks into top 20

It's been a little while since R&B singer Mario had a top 20 hit on the Pop charts, but with his new single "Break Up," he accomplishes that feat once more. The song is a fairly regular contemporary R&B song, but since that is kind of what is dominating the charts right now then I guess it's no surprise.

He scored a massive #1 single in 2004 with "Let Me Love You," but has been stuck on the R&B charts mainly until now.

Check it out below!

Dance Track of the Day

This was the most epic song at my high school prom. Darude's SANDSTORM.

I think this may possibly be the BEST dance/techno song ever. Seriously, it just makes you want to freak out and dance all over the place excessively.

The song was a hit overseas, and became a club mainstay as well here int he states.

Check it out!!!

McSteamy Has a Sex Tape...Kind of...

A tape of Grey's Anatomy hunk Eric Dane along with his wife Rebecca Gayheart and some playboy skank is circulating the internet, with the trio romping around naked in bed and in the tub!

Uh Oh. Not good news for Grey's...GREAT news for everyone else! There is no actual sex on the tape, but al three are in the nude, and a little f'd up I think...They look drunk or high, or both.

Why do so many people like filming themselves naked? Don't they realize that eventually someone will steal it and sell it!?!

Happy Birthday Spicolli

Happy Birthday to Two-Time Oscar winner Sean Penn! The Actor turns 49 today! Penn took home his second statue last year for Best Actor for his portrayal of openly Gay politician Harvey Milk in Milk. The movie was fantatic!

Jordin Sparks to Join Britney's Circus

It was just announced this weekend that American idol Alum Jordin Sparks will be joing Britney Spears on every date of her North American Leg of her tour! She has signed on with already previously announced opener Kristinia DeBarge.

Woop! Jordin Sparks is a great singer and I cannot wait to see her perform live!

Although now it brings up the questions of What the F happened to Ciara? The R&B singer was supposed to be opening for Spears, but now there is no mention of her in any of the press releases from the Spears camp.

Interesting...maybe it was because her new album bombed and her single with Justin Timberlake only barely managed to crack the top top?

On the other hand, Sparks' single "Battlefield" is a hit on the radio, and her album entered in the top 10. Her pervious album was a slow but steady seller, and I think this one will probably be the same.

Dancing With Sabrina the Teenage Witch!

Dancing With the Stars has just announced the new lineup for their upcoming season, with Sabrina the Teenage Witch herself joining the fun. Melissa Joan Hart was named just one of the celebs competing in the dance show, with fellow C-listers Kelly Osbourne (Ozzy's daughter), Aaron Carter (Nick's younger brother), and Mya competing as well, just to name a few

I am definitely putting my money on Mya to win this season. She is a trained dancer to begin with, who was always known as a talented mover even when she was singing and performing on stage. If you want proof, youtube her performance from MTV's Tribut to Janet Jackson. It's Killer.

Miley to Debut Big

Miley Cyrus could see her new single "Party in the U.S.A" crack the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 its first week out, with Billboard predicting sales of over 200,000 digital downloads.

You know, I thought the whole Miley craze would have died down by now, but it looks as if it is still going strong. "Party in the U.S.A" is extremelyyyy catchy and I think could be another hit for her.

I don't think it will touch the 286,000 downloads sold by Britney Spears' "Womanizer" back in 2008, which is the biggest one week sales for a song by a female artist, but it will be respectable nonetheless.

Peter Jackson Back on Top

The Peter Jackson produce film District 9 took the #1 spot at the Box Office this weekend, raking in $37 million. The flick only cost $30 million to make so they are already in the green! The film has been getting great reviews, and I think people were excited to see another Jackson film, since he has been out of the spotlight for a while.

G.I. Joe fell to second place, while the Time Traveler's Wife came in at #3 with almost $20 million. Good to see Rachel McAdams back doin' her thang too!

Entourage star Jeremy Pivon saw his new movie The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard come in at a not so hot 6th place with $5.4 million.

On the plus side, last night's episode of Entourage was great!

Happy Birthday

It's Halle Berry's Birthday today!! The Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe Award winning actress turns 43 today.

Berry's been keeping a low profile the last couple of years, taking time to have a child in 2008 with boyfriend and supermodel Gabriel Aubry.

Halle Berry is most famous for being the first woman of African American descent to win the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Monster's Ball. Since winning in 2001, Berry has been in such box office hits like Die Another Day, The X-Men movies, and super duds like Catwoman and Gothika.

Dance Track of the Day

I have two for you today (since I didn't do one yesterday!!) both coming from the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

As I mentioned earlier this week, Madge saw yet another single enter the Billboard Hot 100. It's off of her upcoming greatest hits disc, and it's called "Celebration." I love it, it's classic Madonna, and I think everyone should listen to it!

Also, as a tribute to the Queen, I am also putting a link up for you to go check out one of her 80's classic hits, "Into the Groove," so you can reminisce!

Check both songs out below!

The "Into the Groove" link is live!

Aerosmith Cancels Tour

Due to the crazy injuries lead singer Steven Tyler suffered last week after falling off a stage in South Dakota, the Aerosmith has made the tough decision to cancel the remaining dates on their summer tour.

That sucks, but we understand. Tyler received a broken shoulder and a bunch of stitches on his head after the fall, and since he's about 113 year-old, that's pretty serious.

Let's hope for a speedy recovery!

Worcester's Art in the Park

I was able to swing by Elm Park the other day and see the awesome artwork on display for the annual Art in the Park exhibit. This is a really cool exhibit that allows you to walk around and enjoy this gorgeous park (it's the oldest in the country!) while looking at some very interesting pieces.

The exhibit will be up through September so feel free to go check it out!

Rant of the Day: Why Do People Like These Guys

This has probably been one of the biggest mysteries for me of the past 10 years, but I still don't know why people like Nickelback!

This band is so generic and every single song of theirs sounds exactly the same. People have even played their songs on top of one another, and the only slight difference is the lyrics! It boggles my mind that they have sold 20 million records in the U.S.

Please, if someone is a fan, explain to me their appeal?

And one more thing. Chad Kroeger may be the UGLIEST lead singer of a band I have ever seen.

I'm finished.

Listen to This

Nelly Furtado has been keeping a low profile since her smash 2006 album Loose, but now she's back and spicier than ever!

The "Maneater" singer is releasing her first full-length Spanish language album in September, and the first single "Manos Al Aire" is already burning up the Hot Latin Songs Chart, sitting comfortably at #7.

The song is actually pretty good! It's a fast-tempo track that matches very well with Furtado's vocals.

Take a listen!

"Manos Al Aire"

Two Legendary Divas Back on the Charts

This week, new songs by both Madonna and Whitney Houston debut on the Hot 100 singles chart. Madge's "Celebration," a classic dance oriented track that screams Madonna, enters at #71, while Houston's "I Look to You", the new single off of her upcoming 'comeback' album, comes in at #74.

I can see "Celebration" becoming a huge hit for Madonna, who's last top 10 hit was her duet with Justin Timberlake "4 Minutes." As I mentioned in past blogs, I think the new Whitney song is Horrendous, and can't see it going anywhere but adult contemporary. I hope she comes out with a better song for pop radio.

But at least it's good to see that they are still making a splash in the music biz! Houston has not had a hit single since the beginning of the millennium, and I think everyone wants to see her return to top form!

She Can't Be Stopped

Taylor Swift collects her 4th number country single this week, as Billboard announced today that her single "You Belong With Me" jumps from 3-1. The song follows in the footsteps of "Our Song", "Should've Said No", and "Love Story", song that all topped the charts in the last two years.

Billboard also points out that of all her 8 top 10 singles, the ones that hit #1 were all up-temp track. Hmmm, interesting. Although her ballads like "Teardrops on My Guitar" and "Tim McGraw" were all big hits, they never hit the top spot.

Your Daily Britney Fix

Yahoo has put a video from Britney's Circus Tour up, and it is probably the BEST one I have seen ever! (Well, besides actually seeing it in real life!) It makes you feel like you are really there, and the quality is spectacular!

I have tickets with some friends to see her again at Madison Square Garden in NYC, and I am wicked excited! I can't wait!

Check out the video below!

Britney at her Best

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to tennis legend Pete Sampras! the 14-time Grand Slam winner turns 38 today. Sampras has won a record 7 Wimbledon Titles and had 8 consecutive Grand Slam wins between 1995 and 2000!

He's also a stone cold fox!

It's Sweet at the Top

Country duo Sugarland score their second #1 album in little over a year, as their Wal-Mart exclusive CD/DVD package "Live on the Inside" debuts in the top spot with 76,000 copies sold. Their previous studio album "Love on the Inside" went to #1 after having originally debuted at #2.

Sugarland is one of my favorite groups, and lead singer Jennifer Nettles has an amazing voice! I'm glad they continuing to do so well! At the 2009 Grammy Awards the duo took home the awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group, as well as Best Country song for their hit "Stay."

Although they have the #1 album in the country, the King of Pop Michael Jackson still has the best-selling album in the country, with his "Number Ones" collection selling another 98,000.

Dance Track of the Day: British Invasion

The band is called La Roux, and their song "Bulletproof" is beginning to catch on at dance radio, and I love it! They're like a combination of Robyn and the Ting Tings, very catchy, very eclectic!

The band is up for the Mercury Prize for their self-titled album, and I hope it wins! The Mercury Prize is awarded to the artist or band with the best album in the UK and Ireland.

Check them out below!

"Bulletproof"

True Blood Continues to be HUGE

Sunday's episode of True Blood drew the biggest audience ever for the series! The ep saw 4.4 million people tuning in to see what craziness was going to happen, and they were not disappointed!
This episode was ridic! With everything from Sookie being trapped at the Fellowship of the Sun, to Maryann doing all kind of crazy shite.

Can't wait for next week's episode!

Rapper to Face Life Sentence

Former No Limit rapper C-Murder has been found guilty and now faces life in prison from a murder case that occurred back in 2003.

Also known as Corey Miller, (Aka Master P's younger brother!) C-Murder was found guilty of second degree murder for the death of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. It happened at a night club in New Orleans.

The rapper scored a platinum hit album in 1998 with his debut Life or Death.

Sucks for him.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver Dies at Age 88

President John F. Kennedy's sister, Eunice, died today at the age of 88. Shriver was the founder of the Special Olympics, starting the organization in 1968. After suffering a series of strokes over the last couple years, she died surrounded by her family and friends.

She was also the Mother-in-law to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was quoted saying that his mother-in-law "changed my life by raising such a fantastic daughter, and by putting me on the path to service, starting with drafting me as a coach for the Special Olympics."

Rest in Peace.

Let's Hope This Year's Better Than Your Last

It's Hulk Hogan's birthday today! The most famous wrestler in the world turns 56, and after the year he's had, it's time for him to just chill and relax a little bit!!

The Hulk saw his skanky heinous looking troll of a wife leave him for one of her daughter's friends, his body ultimately fell apart due to years of abuse in the ring, his son was released from jail after having put his best friend in a coma after a terrible car accident, and his daughter Brooke KEEPS TRYING TO SING. Talk about a doozy of a year.

Let's hope year number 57 in his life will be a good one! After all, he is a legend in wrestling world, and he was once thought of as pretty cool.

Britney at the Teen Choice Awards: Accept and Run

Britney Spears was awarded the "Ultimate Choice" Award at the Teen Choice Awards last night, recognizing her amazing achievements in music and entertainment. Miley Cyrus presented her with the award and there was a 5 minute video tribute to her as well.

When Britney came out she shook a couple fan's hands, got to the microphone and said about 5 words then bounced.

Talk about anti-climatic. First of all, she was suppposeeddd to perform at the awards, but she backed out in the end. Second of all, this award is kind of a big deal, and she only spoke for 10 seconds!?!

C'mon Brit, you can do better than that!

Dance Track of the Day

Check out this new song from the Paradiso Girls, Featuring Lil Jon and Eve. It's called "Patron Tequilla."

Definitely a summer time dance jam. It's good to hear Eve back in the music scene, (she has been busy doing other stuff like fashion and acting,) and I think this song could potentially crossover!

These girls look like a rip off of the Pussycat Dolls, but whatever, they sound good!

Take a listen below!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wfVMZ4CMCE&feature=fvw

Brooks and Dunn Call it Quits

Country super group Brooks and Dunn have announced that they are breaking up! The group, made up of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have scored an mind boggling 20 #1 country singles throughout their career. WOW.

I hope they retire and just live out their lives enjoying not having to work ever again! My favorite song of theirs is "Ain't Nothing About You," which was one of their later #1 hits.

Happy retirement guys!

Keep Voting in the VMA Poll!

Right now it's tied between Britney Spears' "Womanizer" and Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video in the poll for who you think should take home Video of the Year at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, airing in September.

Keep voting! You still have 20 more days to cast a vote, make it count!

New Music Monday

This new track from Michael Franti and Spearhead is super catchy and definitely a great song to end the summer!

It's called "Say Hey" and has influences from everything like reggae to hip-hop. The song is beginning to catch on to Top 40 radio as well, and is sitting at #38 on the Mediabase Radio Charts.

Check it out below!

"Say Hey"

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to actress Rene Russo! The star turns 55 today. As the star of one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, the Thomas Crowne Affair, I just had to mention her today! The film was released in 1999, starring Mr. Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan.

Dance Track of the Day

Some of you may be familiar with this song, some of you may not, either way, take a listen and enjoy the euro-trash awesomeness that is Basshunter's "Now You're Gone."

Basshunter is actually just one Swedish man, who has scored a handful of hits in his native Sweden, but never reached much success here in the states.

The vocals are decent enough, and the track is definitely beat heavy. It's a great song for getting ready to go out!

Take a listen below!

"Now You're Gone"

U2 Tour Continues to be Massive

U2 takes the #1 spot on the Hot Tours List, that follows the top grossing tours around the world. The band grossed $41.4 million over 13 dates in Europe, good enough to beat the likes of fellow tour giants Madonna and Bruce Springsteen.

Although the band's latest album "No Line on the Horizon" debut at #1 all over the world, it was a commercial failure in the states, not even selling a million copies.

Even if they don't sell what they used to, U2 is one of the best live bands of all time. I have been fortunate enough to see them perform twice, and both times were unbelievable! I strongly recommend you to check them out at least once!!

Sunday, August 9, 2009

G.I. Joe, Channing Tatum, Own Weekend Box Office

The new G.I. Joe movie starring the studly Channing Tatum took the #1 spot at this weekend's box office, with an estimated $56.2 million earned domestically. This is the 4th biggest August opener of all time!

Gee, I guess people will see any piece of crap movie out there as long as there's hot men...and women...I guess.

Coming in with a solid $20.1 million was the new Meryl Streep film Julia and Julia, good enough for second place.

More Good News For Britney!

Britney will be receiving the "Ultimate Choice Award," at the Teen Choice Awards this sunday, that airs on Fox on Monday. The award will be presented to Britney in recognition of her legendary contributions to music and entertainment.

Wow! That's awesome!! Britney has won more Teen Choice Awards than any other female in history, and no one deserves it more.

Congrats!

Leno Books Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye for premiere

Jay Leno has quite a lineup for the first show of his new "Jay Leno Show," premiering September 14th. With 3 superstars Rihanna, Jay-Z, AND Kanye West, the opening night should be a must-see event!

The three will performe "Run This Town," the new single off of Jay's The Blueprint 3. It will also be Rihanna's first time performing back on stage since her terrible ordeal with that douche of man Chris Brown.

At least it's nice to know that Rihanna looks like she'll continue to make hit records and sell tons of albums, while Brown will probably never recover after beating her up. What an ass.

Britney Stat's of the Day

For all of you eager to learn more about Britney Spears and all of her success, I have compiled a quick run down of the sales of all of her albums. To say the least, they are astronomical! In the 10 years that she has been in the business, Britney has sold a staggering 32 million albums in the United States alone.

That's more than NSYNC, Eminem, Jay-Z, and even Janet Jackson. She is the 8th best-selling female artist of all time, and the best selling artist of the last decade. Here's the run-down of her accomplishments.

Album Sales

...Baby One More Time....................14 million (14x platinum)
Oops!...I Did it Again!.......................10 million (10x platinum)
Britney......................................4 million (4x platinum)
In the Zone.........................................3 million (2x platinum)
Greatest Hits......................................1.5 million (platinum)
Blackout...............................................1 million
Circus.............................................1.6 million (platinum)

Britney has sold nearly 85 million albums worldwide, and continues to sell out her most recent world tour The Circus Starring Britney Spears.

It's funny how most people though she's be a flash in the pan, never making more than a couple hit singles, let alone becoming one of the biggest artists of all time. But she's defied the odds and has secured her position as one of the most entertaining pop icons of all time.

RIP John Hughes

Sad news for the movie world, as it was announced yesterday that famed movie director John Hughes died suddenly of a heart attack.

The director of such classic 80's films like The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and sixteen candles, is survived by his wife and two sons.

Very sad, those movies helped to define a generation of teenagers, and even kids today still love those movies!

He will be missed.
