Old School Jame of the Day

It's been a while since we've done an old school jam of the day, and we're bringing it back!!

What better way to start off again a woman who has continued to make an impact on the charts today.

Monica!

The singer had a stellar year in 2010, scoring a #1 R&B single "Everything to Me", as well as an album that hit #2 on the charts, was certified gold by the RIAA, and earned her 2 Grammy nominations.

Not too shabby, considering she's been in the biz since the early/mid 90's.

Sit back and reminisce about 1998 with this former chart topper.

Enjoy!!

New More Than Musiq Poll!

It's hard to believe that it's already mid August, and pretty soon the leaves will be falling off the trees!

It's been quite a fun summer, and a lot of it has to do with the great music that was the soundtrack to those drunken late nights and trips to the beach. That's why More Than Musiq's new poll asks just that:

What was your song of the summer?

Here are the options to choose from:

Britney Spears "I Wanna Go" - Queen Brit has had a HUGE year, and the 3rd single off her Femme Fatale album was the perfect summer dance track.

Pitbull & Ne-Yo "Give Me Everything" - This dynamic duo blew up radio with this monster #1 hit, which became the biggest hit of Pitbull's career.

Katy Perry "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" - This gurl is unstoppable! Perry kept churning out the hits this summer, earning a record-setting fifth #1 single from her Teenage Dream album, making her the only artist besides Michael Jackson to score 5 number ones from one album.

Nicki Minaj "Super Bass" - This was Nicki's big pop breakthrough, and really showcased the rap superstars quick-spitting style.

LMFAO "Party Rock Anthem" - Say what you want about the boys from LMFAO, but they broke BIG TIME this summer with their first chart-topper, rousing people into a frenzy whenever it came on in the clubs.

So there you have it! 5 monster jams that definitely helped to define the summer.

What's your favorite?

Friends With Benefits = Cute, Stupid, Fun

Justin Timberlake has put his music career on hold to pursue the actor's lifestyle, and so far he's done a pretty decent job at convincing people he can deliver the goods. Case in point - Friends with Benefits.

The movie is a typical rom-com featuring two hotties (one obviously being JT and the other is the always stunning Mila Kunis), who decide to to start hooking up while maintaining the idea that they won't get emotionally involved blah blah blah...

The point is, Timberlake has proven to the world that he is a decent actor; he's not an amazing actor (yet), but he's definitely got his former flame beat.

But here's the thing - Justin wasn't just an okay musician, he was a pretty frickin' talented musician with one of the most distinguishable voices/styles in popular music.

So although we've accepted the fact that he may be on the silver screen for the time being, I think the most of his fans are still waiting for his return to the music world.

Britney Earns 3rd Top 10 Off Femme Fatale

Our girl Britney is ON.A.ROLL!!

This week the Queen of Pop earns her 3rd top single from her #1 album Femme Fatale, as "I Wanna Go" shoots 11-9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It may come as a surprise, but this is the first album from Brit to garner 3 top ten hits; she scored two top 10 hits from ...Baby One More Time ("Baby" hit #1 and "Crazy" peaked at #10), and Circus ("Womanizer" went to #1 and "Circus" reached #3), so this is great news!!

It also happens to be Britney's 12th top 10 hit, which puts her in 3rd place for female artists with the most top 10's this decade, behind Rihanna (18) and Beyonce (14).

LOVE IT! Looks like nothing can stop Ms. Spears, she is still on top of her game and better than ever!

Poll Results: You Love NYC

The results are in, and it was pretty unanimous about what cast of Real Housewives was your fave...

New York of course!

The ladies of the Big Apple scored 50% of the votes, ahead of runner-up, the cast of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, who garnered 33%.

I have to say, NYC has not been the same since Bethenny Frankel lef the show, but it's definitely still got some legs!

Stay tuned for the next MoreThanMusiq poll gang!

Adele, Katy Perry Lead Mid Year Music Sales

It's hard to believe that 2011 is already half over, but Billboard/SOUNDSCAN have released the mid-year sales numbers for albums and digital songs, and two of our favorite divas are coming out on top!

Adele's breakthrough album 21 is currently the best-selling album of the year in the U.S. over 2.5 million in sales, miles ahead of the runner-up, (Lady Gaga's Born This Way), with 1.5 million copies sold so far. And my bet is that it will stay the top seller!

The albums in the #3 and 4 spots may come as a surprise to some, with Mumford and Sons Sigh No More and Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party holding it down behind the gals. Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" is a smash on country radio and is steadily climbing the pop charts, while the Mumford Boys have been consistent sellers all year.

And don't worry, Britney is holding her own as well, as her 7th studio album Femme Fatale is currently the #12 best-seller, and looks as if it will move into the top 10 by the end of the year!

On the singles side, Katy Perry and Adele dominate again, with Perry's "E.T." selling 4.12 million digital copies in just 6 months, while "Rolling in the Deep" is slowly closing in with 4.08 million sold.

And yup, Brit's "Till the World Ends" is in the top 20, holding down the #18 position with just under 2 million singles sold.

Very impressive girls! Click here to check out the top 20 singles and albums of 2011 (so far).
