Teen Dream Fever

Justin Bieber, the newest 16-year-old pop-tart, lands at #1 this week on the Billboard 200 with his second album My World 2.0, which sold a robust 283,000 last week.

With his #1 debut, Bieber becomes the youngest solo male artist to top the Billboard 200 since August of 1963, when Stevie Wonder held the top spot for a week with Little Stevie Wonder/The 12-Year-Old Genius, when he was 13.

Bieber also has the #5 best-selling album in the country with his debut CD My World.

Pretty impressive for a sophomore in high school!

Coming in at the #2 spot this week is our girl Monica, who's album Still Standing sold a respectable 184,000 copies. Credit the strong opening sales to her latest single "Everything to Me", which is holding down the top spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

Here's a rundown of this week's top 10 albums:

1. Justin Bieber My World 2.0 (283,000)

2. Monica Still Standing (184,000)

3. Now That's What I Call Music 33 (135,000)

4. Lady Antebellum Need You Now (78,000)

5. Justin Bieber My World (50,000)

6. She & Him Volume 2. (47,000)

7. Ludacris Battle of the Sexes (45,000)

8. Lady Gaga The Fame (41,000)

9. Marvin Sapp Here I Am (39,000)

10. Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. (34,000)

It's Coming! It's Coming! It's Coming! It's Coming!!

The stars of Fox's MONSTER show Glee graces the latest cover of Rolling Stone Magazine.

WoopWoop!!

You know what that means?? GLEE IS ALMOST BACK!!!

Since taking a mid-season hiatus because of the juggernaut that is American Idol, The second half of the first season is gearing up to premiere on April 13, with 9 more episodes remaining!

Finally, I've been going through withdrawals for months!!

Aguilera Debuts New Song, Pop Fan Disappointed

Christina Aguilera debuted her latest single yesterday, a little electro-pop ditty called "Not Myself Tonight."

The tune feels a little forced, with Aguilera jumping on the electro-banwagon a-la Ke$ha and Britney, and leaves a lot to be desired.

Christina is literally one of the best pop vocalists to ever grace the stage, and it's a shame that she is hiding her voice with this over-produced track. I mean, I know that this type of music is all the rage, but most people tweak their voice with auto-tune and crap like that because they can't sing!

X-tina likes to evolve, as we all know, but it seems as if she's always a step behind. She needs to stick with what she's good at; huge monster pop ballads that showcase those stunning pipes!!!

Take a listen to her new single "Not Myself Tonight", and judge for yourself.

Ricky Martin Comes Out...Big Surprise?

Latin heartthrob Ricky Martin has FINALLY come out of the closet as a gay man, after over a decade of speculation.

First off, congratulations!

But secondly, ummm it was not a huge surprise to most. Since he burst on to the U.S. music scene in 1999 with his #1 hit "Living La Vida Loca" there has been much speculation regarding his sexuality, but he always kept things hush-hush.

Not anymore! Martin is now a proud and out gay man!

While he is still a huge part of the Latin music world, Martin has not release any English-language music in quite some time. Perhaps with all of this new media publicity he'll jump back on the wagon!

Monica Returns

Well, she never went away, really.

R&B singer Monica is riding high with her latest single "Everything to Me", which moved into the #1 position on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop charts. Her album Still Standing, is expected to debut high on the Billboard 200 this week as well.

Congrats to her! Monica has been through some tough times in the past decade; her boyfriend shot himself and committed suicide in front of her in 2000, causing her to fall down a spiral of depression for quite some time.

She was able to bounce back with 2003's #1 album After the Storm, and now it looks as if she's destined for another hit album!

It's nice to see her back on top, but to be honest I'd love for her to score another MONSTER pop hit like the ones she released back in the late 90's (obviously you remember "Angel of Mine", "The First Night," and of course, the Grammy-winning duet with Brandy "The Boy is Mine.")

But for now she's just doing her thing! Take a listen to her latest #1 hit, "Everything to Me".

Happy Birthday!!

A big happy Birthday is in order for our girl Keri Russell who turns 34 today! The former star of Felicity has been pretty low-key and not doing too much lately. The last big movie she was in was 2008's Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler, which, if I do say so myself, was a pretty crappy film!!

But she's still young, and gorgeous! So I'm sure she's got some mojo left in her yet!!

Happy Birthday!!

Heigl Is Officially Off Grey's

It's about time!

This week's cover of Entertainment Weekly announces that Katherine Heigl is officially done playing the role of Doctor Isabel Stevens on the long-running drama Grey's Anatomy.

The show is still one of the most popular dramas on TV, but we've all known for some time now that Heigl was sick of being on the show and wanted off. She claims that it was 'family issues' that resulted in her asking to be let out of her contract, but some (myself included) think that she wanted to focus more on her movie career.

In any case, she is no longer going to be in any of the episodes during this season, which is fine because her role has become somewhat dull lately.

Best of luck to her in the future though, hope this isn't a HUGE mistake on her part!

Britney Throwback

I haven't surprised you young cherubs in a while with some spontaneous Britney vids, so I'm doing it now!!

After completing one of the biggest tours by a female artist in HISTORY, releasing a hugely successful album and scoring multiple #1 singles last year, Brit's taking some time off to chill and roll around in her billions of dollars.

But we must not forget the sheer awesome-ness of this icon, soo, here's a video!!

It's Britney's superstar-making performance of "Oops!...I Did it Again!" at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, where she stripped down to a flesh-colored, sparkly body suit and rocked the world!!

Check it out and reminisce. I can't believe this was 10 years ago!

Funniest Couple of the Year

Steve Carell & Tina Fey grace the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly, to promote their upcoming comedy "Date Night."

Fey and Carell are two of the funniest people on primetime, but I have to say that this film looks like it could either be pretty good, or horrendously shitty!

Tina Fey's movies usually always deliver, but Carell has been known to hit and miss over the past.

Ludcaris, Rihanna Continue to Rack up #1's

This week's album and singles charts saw some familiar faces at the top spot, as Ludacris debuts at #1 with his album "Battle of the Sexes" and Rihanna scores her 6th chart topper with her latest song Rude Boy.

This is Luda's 4th #1 album, and 7th top album overall. He's also the artist with the most top 10 singles since 2000.

Rihanna has scored the most #1 singles since 2005, bumping ahead of Justin Timberlake who has five!

It's also really impressive that Rihanna was able to go #1 after her last two singles failed to crack the top 5!

Congrats to all!!

The 10 Best Shows on Television?

One of my favorite Entertainment Magazines is, obviously, Entertainment Weekly! I have been an avid read for years and really enjoy the combination pop culture stories and fun sidebar topics. This week's cover has the two stars of The Good Wife, (Chris Noth & Julianna Margulies) with the cover story being the "10 Best Shows on TV."

EW said that The Good Wife was the BEST show on TV...really? I actually have not seen an entire episode, but I'm surprised by all of the praise it has gotten!

Other shows on the list include Modern Family, Lost, and my personal favorite, Glee!!!

Head over to EW.com to read the entire article!

Corey Haim Dies

More Than Musiq does not usually report on celebrity deaths, but this one is kind of a big deal.

80's child star Corey Haim died of a reported drug overdose last night in LA.

The star had been battling drugs and alcohol for years, and tragically overdosed says the LAPD.

Haim was a huge star in the 80's known as one of the 'Corey's' with fellow child/teen star Corey Feldman, who both starred in The Lost Boys together.

Sad.

Oscars = Highly Predictable, Highly Entertaining

Well there were no surprises during last night's 82nd Academy Awards, unless you consider that the show was actually LESS than 3 hours this year.

Not to toot my own horn but I went 6 for 6 in this year's top categories, but then again I'm assuming most people were pretty accurate with their predictions this year.

The Hurt Locker won for Best Picture, beating out box office titan Avatar, while Hurt Locker Director Kathryn Bigelow became the first female ever to win the Best Director award. All-in-all the film earned 6 awards last night to lead everyone.

The acting categories were no-brainers, but the speeches themselves were pretty good. But I think Monique (winner for Best Supporting Actress for Precious) needs to tone down the seriousness a bit (remember girl, you were in Phat Girls not that long ago...).

Christopher Waltz took home the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his turn as a crazy-ass Nazi in Inglourious Basterds, while Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock finished their awards season sweep by winning lead actor and actress in a movie (for Crazy Heart and The Blindside.)

Hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were a hoot, which made the show shorter than it actually was (two and a half hours is still a long time), offering brotherly-like banter while they shared the stage.

Overall a very entertaining, be it predictable show!

Alice Delivers HUGE Box Office Opener

Crazy stuff! The new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland earned an estimated $116 million this weekend, WAY more than what Avatar pulled in during its opening weekend ($77 million.)

I'm actually shocked that the film was able to bring in such a huge sum; it's been getting only OK reviews, but then again Burton has a devoted following, and the 3-D movie is all the rage nowadays.

Today's a big day for movie because not only did Alice in Wonderland debut big, but the OSCARS ARE ON TONIGHT!!

So don't forget to tune in!!

RiRi Continues to Deliver

Although her most recent album Rated R is not selling as briskly as her previous efforts, Rihanna continues to release some stellar singles.

This week she scores her 14th top ten hit with "Rude Boy," making her the female artist with the most top 10 hits since 2000 (yes, she beat out Beyonce!)

"Rude Boy" is a SICK song, with tons of percussion beats that make it a perfect party track. RiRi's been performing the song live everywhere lately, and her voice has been on point!

In the past Rihanna has not been very impressive when she sings live, (I saw her perform in Massachusetts in 2006, she kind of sucked...) but it sounds like she's been training those pipes!

Check out a recent performance of hers on the Ellen show!

Lady Antebellum Lead ACM Nominations

It's been a good 12 months for country trio Lady Antebellum. They've scored multiple #1 hit country singles, a platinum album, a Grammy, and now they're up for a leading 7 Academy of Country Music Awards.

The group scored 5 nominations for the cross-over hit "Need You Now", earning nods in the record, song, and video of the year categories, as well as vocal group and album of the year.

Not far behind Lady A is Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert who both scored 6 nods apiece. Underwood is up for Entertainer of the Year, which she won last year. If she pulls back-to-back wins she'd be the first woman in history to do so.

Others acts in the running for Entertainer of the year include Kenny Chesney (who's won 4 times already), Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, The Zac Brown Band, George Strait, Keith Urban, and Toby Keith (ugh.)

Look for the race to be between Underwood, Swift, and Chesney. I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor took the top prize!!

Check out this Billboard article for more of the nominees!

It's a Tie!

For the first time in More Than Musiq's history, there is a 3-way tie in our poll results!

The Oscars are this Sunday, so the big questions for you followers was which movie you thought should win best picture.

And apparently you can't decide!

The three movies you picked to take home the top prize were Avatar, Inglourious Basterds, and Precious. Each film garnered 25% of the votes, while the animated film Up, was a distant second with 12%.

Tune in to the awards this Sunday to see which movie actually wins!

Depp Loves to be Creepy

Johnny Depp graces the new cover of Entertainment Weekly dressed as his latest creepy role as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's new remake of Alice in Wonderland.

He loves to be the weird creepy guy!! And he's good at it!

The new movie opens this Friday, and I must say that it looks fantastic! I've always been a Burton fan and the CGI effects that I've seen in the preview look phenomenal! Plus, I really like that Avril Lavigne song from the soundtrack...
