Billboard Year End Charts: Ke$ha Rules Hot 100

It was a huge year for pop music, as anyone who owns a radio could tell you, and the year end Billboard charts don't lie.

The biggest single of the year belonged to none other than the queen of trash pop, Ke$ha, whose "Tik Tok" spent 9 weeks at #1 and cemented the singer's monstrous debut in 2010.

Following behind Ke$ha is country superstars Lady Antebellum, with their single "Need You Now". The song was a #1 country hit and crossed over to the mainstream top 40 in a BIG way, becoming the second biggest song of the year.

Here are the top 10 singles of 2010:

1. "Tik Tok" - Ke$ha

2. "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum

3. "Hey Soul Sister" - Train

4. "California Gurls" - Katy Perry

5. "OMG" - Usher

6. "Airplanes" - B.O.B. (Featuring Hayley Williams)

7. "Love the Way You Lie" - Eminem (Featuring Rihanna)

8. "Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga

9. "Dynamite" - Taio Cruz

10. "Break Your Heart" Taio Cruz

How many of these songs did you download this year??

Grammy Predicitions Part 2

It's time for another round of Grammy predictions!!

The show is still a little ways away, but there are just SO many categories to get through, we need to start chit chatting about them!

Today's category is Best Dance Recording, here are the nominees:

"Rocket" - Goldfrapp

Who I Want to Win: This is a super tough category, with tons of heavy hitters, but I'm gonna go with my gut and say ROBYN. She has a HUGE breakout year in 2010, releasing 3 critically acclaimed albums and snagging a whole new group of fans. "Dancing on My Own" is electro-pop perfection, and if anyone deserves to take home this award it's her.

Who Will Probably Win: Gaga or La Roux will probabbllyy take home this award. Ms. Gaga is bound to take home at least one of her 6 nominations, but this is one of her lesser known songs, and "In for the Kill" was a substantial hit for the British band.

But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for ROBYN!! Love her!!

NEW BRITNEY SINGLE TO DEBUT NEXT WEEK!!!

Entertainment Weekly reported that The Queen of Pop's new song "Hold it Against Me" will premiere on NYC's Z100 radio station January 7th, and from what people have been saying, it's gonna be HUGE.

"...the hook is just amazing," said Sharon Dastur, program director for Z100.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

The countdown officially has begun! In one week, we will all experience the NEW Britney single, and our minds will be ROCKED!

CAN'T WAIT!!

New Poll!

It's time for a new More Than Musiq poll, and this one's a goodie!

My favorite time of the year is in December, not only because it's Christmas (and my birthday!) but all the year-end charts and lists and polls are my absolute fave!!

Todays poll asks: Who is Your Musical Entertainer of the Year?

You can choose from:

The Cast of Glee

Eminem

Rihanna

Taylor Swift

Katy Perry

(Poll is at the bottom of the page!)

It's been a big year for all of these stars: The cast of Glee continued their meteoric rise in 2010, with hefty ratings for their show, a sold out concert tour, surpassing the Beatles for the most chart entries on the Hot 100, and selling millions of albums!

But it was also the comeback year for Eminem, who scored a massive #1 album Recovery (currently in the running for the best-selling album of the year), a monster #1 smash (and Grammy darling) with "Love the Way You Lie". His partner in crime Rihanna also had 12-months to remember. She earned her NINTH (yes...I said 9th...like as in 9...NINE) #1 single "Only Girl in the World", putting her in the ranks of Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

Miz Perry proved that she was no one trick pony when her sophomore album Teenage Dream Debuted at #1, and produced 3 consecutive #1 singles ("Firework" just hit the top today). She also married her boy toy Russell Brand, and earned an impressive (yet a little baffling) Album of the Year nomination at the Grammys.

And who could forget little Tay Tay Swift! Girl was unstoppable this year, selling over a million copies of her third album Speak Now in its first week, and dating a SUPER HUNK (this fact alone makes her have the best year ever).

So GO VOTE!!!

90's Throwback

They are the kings of pop in the UK, with 11 #1 singles, but have to settle for one-hit-wonder status in the U.S.

Take That, Britain's biggest boy band EVER hit the U.S. top 10 in 1995 with "Back for Good", a midtempo ballad along the lines of BSB's "I Want it That Way", but vanished after the song dropped off the charts.

Well, they continued to rack up hit after hit in Europe, until band member Robbie Williams (the best decision of his life) left and the group eventually disbanded.

Until 2005, when they reunited and came back in a BIG way. 2006's Beautiful World became one of the biggest albums of the year. And now in 2010, with Robbie Williams back in the mix, their latest album Progress has sold 900,000 copies in the UK in just 3 weeks, cementing the band's status as European icons.

So here's to you, Take That. May you have one more hit in the U.S. before you're gone for good!

EW Love Miss Swift

Entertainment Weekly has published their annual list of the 15 "Entertainers of the Year", with none other than music superstar Taylor Swift taking the coveted top spot.

Definitely a solid choice EW; Swift continues to dominate the music world, with the release of her third album Speak Now last month, which sold a record setting 1 million copies during its first week of release. That number immediately gave her the second biggest one week sales for a female artist ever (behind Britney Spears' Oops...I Did it Again! which moved 1.3 million units in the summer of 2000), and instantly became one of the biggest albums of 2010.

It was also just announced that the first few dates of her new world tour sold out in a matter of minutes, setting her up for another stellar year in 2011.

Other stars that made the list are Jayden and Willow Smith, children of Will and Jada, who both had a huge 2010, with Jayden's The Karate Kid grossing over $350 million worldwide, and Willow breaking into the top 10 on the Billboard charts with her super catchy anthem "Whip My Hair".

Our favorite kids from Glee also made EW's list, as well as the douche that is Kanye West.

Check out the entire list at EW.com.

Grammy Prediction Time!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! It's Grammy prediction time!!!!

The nominations for the 53rd Annual Grammy Award were announced last week, and there is TONS to discuss!

First the essentials - Eminem scored a leading 10 nominations, including Album of the Year for Recovery, while his monster single with Rihanna "Love the Way You Lie" scored nods in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration categories, just to name a few.

Hot R&B newcomer Bruno Mars comes in second with total nominations, scoring 7, with mentions in the Record of the Year category for "Nothing on You", his duet with rapper B.O.B.

Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum, and Jay-Z all managed to snag 6 nominations apiece, with Gaga scoring her second consecutive Album of the Year nod in two years for The Fame Monster, as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Bad Romance".

Check out the entire list of nominees at the Grammy Awards website, but stay HERE for More Than Musiq's first prediction category, and we're starting with a big one folks; Album of the Year.

Here are the nominees:

The Suburbs by The Arcade Fire

Recovery by Eminem

Need You Now by Lady Antebellum

The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga

Teenage Dream by Katy Perry

Winner: Eminem

- If anybody had a bigger comeback this year than Eminem, I'd be happy for you to point them out. But 2010 belonged to Marshall Mathers, who scored a chart topping critically acclaimed album that was his most well received disc in years, but he also scored one of the year's biggest songs with the #1 smash "Love the Way You Lie".

Eminem went through a hell of a lot during the past 5 years, (drug addiction, depression), and Recovery is his "Coming out of the Dark" stage. I'm not even a huge fan, but this album is a powerful declaration that Em still has what it takes to rock the world, and he deserves to take home the big prize this year.

His biggest competitor will be the new grand dame of pop, Miz Gaga. She followed her huge 2009 with a just-as-huge 2010, with her massive smashes "Bad Romance", "Alejandro", and "Telephone", her duet with Beyonce.

The Fame Monster is just an EP, which could hurt its chances with voters. However, the disc was a fan favorite, moving 1.3 million copies in 2010, and some people may still be peeved about her losing to Taylor Swift last year, and throw some votes her way.

This year's "What the F?" award goes to the Arcade Fire getting an Album of the Year nomination. The Canadian indie rock band are relatively unknown (when compared to the other nominees), and their album The Suburbs, has only sold a little over 300,000 copies in the U.S.

Also...I love her...but how did Katy Perry's Teenage Dream get in here? I'm baffled. Although Perry has ruled the radio with 3 insanely popular songs, ("California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", and "Firework"), this pop pastry of an album really has no business being here.

Notable Omissions: Where is Miranda Lambert's Revolution!?!?! This was one of the best albums of the year HANDS DOWN, and although it did earn a Best Country Album mention (which she better win), it would have been nice to see her in the big category. It also would have been nice if Florence and the Machine's album Lungs saw more Grammy love, although it was great to see them in the Best New Artist category.

Stay tuned for more Grammy Predictions from More Than Musiq!!!

Kanye West, Nicki Minaj Rule Album Chart

They weren't as big as projected, but Kanye West and the new princess of hip hop Nicki Minaj both scored solid debuts this week, with their new albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Pink Friday.

West earned his 4th consectutive #1 album, as Fantasy sold 496,000 copies, a big improvement from 2008's 808s & Heartbreak, which opened at the top with 450,000. His new album has been getting stellar reviews, and although it hasn't produced a bonafide hit yet, it will most likely see solid numbers in the upcoming holiday weeks.

Minaj can now boast having the second biggest debut by a female hip hop artist EVER, as her debut sold an impressive 375,000 copies to land at #2 this week. She's only shy of Lauryn Hill's 423,000 units moved of her classicThe Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which was released way back in 1998.

The holidays are in full effect, and it's evident on the Billboard 200, with some albums moving hefty numbers. Here's a rundown of this week's top 10:

1. Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (496,000)

2. Nicki Minaj Pink Friday (375,000)

3. Susan Boyle The Gift (263,000)

4. Taylor Swift Speak Now (241,000)

5. Jackie Evancho O Holy Night (142,00)

6. Rihanna Loud (141,000)

7. Justin Bieber My World Acoustic (115,000)

8. My Chemical Romance Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (112,000)

9. Ne-Yo Libra Scale (112,000)

10. Glee Christmas Album (108,000)

Natalia Kills KILLS It

Little known singer Natalia Kills had the privilege of opening for Robyn on her most recent tour, and I was lucky enough to see her and fall completely in love with her music!!

She's kind of like a more Gothic Gaga, but her songs are extremely catchy and right up my electro pop alley!

Her first single "Mirrors" is a sleazy dance pop track with a killer chorus, and I've been listening to it on repeat for days now!!

Check out "Mirrors" and dance dance dance!

Sweet as Pie...Sad as Hell

The Band Perry is one of country music's breakout stars this year, with their hit single "If I Die Young" becoming a top ten hit on the country charts, and continuing to rise on the pop charts.

The song is super pretty, but SUPER sad! It's about a girl who says that if she dies young, she'll be happy with the life she's lead...

But the lyrics and context of the song, combined with the sugary sweet delivery by singer Kimberly Perry make it a very interesting little ditty.

Check out "If I Die Young", and let me know if you get a little teared up.

It's a Tie!!

The More Than Musiq poll has officially CLOSED, and the R&B queen that you all would want to see make a comeback issss.....

Jennifer Lopez AND Ashanti!

It was a tie! The two divas both garnered 35% of the votes, well ahead of the other closest competitor, Toni Braxton, who managed to snare 21%. Too bad...Ms. Braxton NEEDS a comeback to pay all those bills!!

J*Lo's been trying to have a comeback for quite some time, but has yet to score another hit since 2005's "Get Right". In the late 90's and early 2000's, Lopez accumulated 4 #1 singles ("If You Had My Love", "I'm Real", "Ain't it Funny", "All I Have") and sold over 12 million records. But the Latin bombshell is DEFINITELY in need of some fresh new jams.

Ashanti became an instant superstar with the release of her self titled debut album back in 2002, with her monster smash "Foolish", which ruled the charts for 11 consecutive weeks. But her follow-up albums were weak sellers, and as quickly as she rose to pop/R&B stardom, she drifted out of our minds.

So ladies, GET ON IT. We're ready for you to dominate the radio and the charts once more!!

And of course, stay tuned for another More Than Musiq Poll!!

Robyn Delivers Like DOMINOS

I had the pleasure of catching Swedish pop sensation Robyn when she came to NYC this week on her international tour, and I must say, it was AWESOME!!!

I've been a fan for years ("Show Me Love" was the Sh**), and her newest music has completely re-energized her popularity in the U.S.

The show was sold out (probably about 1,000 people, impressive for someone who hasn't charted a single in the U.S. in over 10 years), and the energy was NON-STOP. She sang every note LIVE, danced like a fiend, and put on a killer light show.

The night peaked with her live rendition of her most recent single "Dancing on My Own". The entire crowd knew the lyrics, and danced until the last note.

All-in-all, it was an amazing concert!!! If you haven't jumped on the Robyn train yet, DO IT!!!

NEW MJ SONG!

The first posthumous single released after Michael Jackson's death has just been released, and it is one of the best MJ tracks he has ever released in the past 15 years!

"Breaking News" begins with soundbites from various media outlets reporting on Jackson's public debacles, but the track itself is solid, combining vintage MJ beats and vocals with contemporary construction.

The track will be streaming live for a week on his website, but you can also listen to the track at the most trusted source (aka my most trusted source) for music news, billboard.com.

What do you think of the King of Pop's new track??

Bruno Mars Has Arrived

With arrests for possession of cocaine aside, the arrival of Bruno Mars to the world of pop/R&B music has yielded some (mainly me) to proclaim him as the male Alicia Keys.

Now, only time will tell if Mars has the staying power, but his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans hit the top 3 on the Billboard charts, and his lead single as a solo artist "Just the Way You Are" has become an international #1 hit.

His recent performance on SNL was fantastic, and it appears as if he has the whole package!!! He can sing (VERY well), play the guitar, write, and look damnn good doing it at the same!

His next single "Grenade" is already heating up radio stations across the country, check it out and jump on the Mars bandwagon!

Swift Swiftly Crosses The 1 Million Mark

I figured it'd be big, but I really didn't think it's be THIS big!!

Taylor Swift's latest album Speak Now sold a staggering 1,047,000 copies in its debut week, becoming just the third female artist to sell over a million albums in their debut week.

Now I know Swift is a megastar, I love her and her music, but what surprises me is that Speak Now didn't have a monster first single. "Mine" debuted high on the charts (#3), but has not been as big of a hit as her previous pop crossovers. But she still managed to sell a CRAP load of records!!

This is the first time an artist has sold over a million records since Lil Wayne did in 2008 with The Carter III, and it's only the 16th time an album has sold a million copies in a week.

Needless to say, with the music industry in the crapper, this is GREAT news; people will still flock to buy BIG records from BIG artists such as Swift, giving hope to those who still buy CD's.

Swift now has the second biggest opening week by a female artist ever, ahead of Norah Jones'2004 Feels Like Home (1,022,000), but well behind Britney Spears' gargantuan selling Oops!...I Did it Again, which shifted 1,319,000 back in 2000.

Congrats T Swift!!!

Fright Fest at the Box Office

It was no surprise that the latest installment in the Saw franchise took the top spot at the Box Office this Halloween Weekend, with Saw 3D grossing a reported $24.2 million, a vast improvement over last year's Saw VI, which opened with $14.1 million.

Another fright fest film was in the runner-up spot, as Paranormal Activity grossed $16.5 million in its second weekend, bringing its 2-week total to $65.7 million.

I have yet to see the last Paranormal film, but from what I've read/heard, it's decent, but there's a lot of the same ol' creaky-door-footsteps-stuff that was in the first one.

For a full list of the top 10 Box Office head to Rottentomatoes.com.

Katy Perry Still on a Roll

It's been quite a year so far for Katy Perry. Not only did the pop star recently marry funny man Russell Brand, but she's also scored TWO #1 songs ("California Gurls", "Teenage Dream") and a #1 album, Teenage Dream, and now her third single "Firework" looks to be another huge hit!

Perry dedicated the song and video to the "It Gets Better" video campaign, where celebs talk to kids who've been bullied against telling them to be strong and that it will, well, get better.

The video is awesome, and you can't help but feel a little inspired when you watch it. Perry also sounds the best she's ever sounded - her vocals in the past have been a little iffy but there's no denying now that she can actually sanngggg.

Check out the video for "Firework" and get on your feet, because I guarantee you you'll want to start dancing!

Eminem, Lady A Lead AMA Nominations

It has been quite a comeback year for Eminem, after scoring a massive album and massive #1, "Love the Way You Lie". Now Slim Shady has more to celebrate, as he ties Lady Antebellum for the most nominations at this year's American Music Awards, with 5 nods.

Em is up for Artist of the Year, going up against heavyweights Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and of course, Lady Gaga.

My money is on Gaga, since she was shut out last year, and um, well she's the biggest star in the world right now.

Eminem is also up for Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album (for Recovery), Favorite Male Rap Artist, and Favorite Rap Album.

Country titans Lady Antebellum scored nods in the Breakthrough Artist category, as well as Favorite Band Duo/Group Pop, Favorite Band/Duo Country, Favorite Country Album, and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist.

Other artists with multiple nominations are Bieber with 4, and Perry, Ke$ha, B.o.B., and Usher, who all garnered 3 apiece.

For a full list of nominees, head over to Billboard.com and check it out!!

Easy A Gets a Good Grade in My Book

I finally saw Easy A, and it lived up to all of my expectations!

More Than Musiq wrote about the film months ago, talking about the positive buzz that the film and the star Emma Stone, had been getting, and how freakin' funny Amanda Bynes was in the previews.

Well it didn't disappoint, I was laughing in my seat practically the whole time, and I think the film will catapult Stone to the A-list (she was already on her way there anyway).

Bynes was her usual hilarious self, while Stone's parents in the movie, (played by Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson), stole each scene they were in.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, GO SEE IT. Easy A gets an A in my book!

The Britney Glee Episode = The Second Coming of Christ

I needed a week to get myself together after the Britney Spears episode of Glee. It was UTTERLY amazing!!!! From the performances to the dancing, to the Britney guest appearance, the whole show delivered like DOMINOS!

It's no surprise that the episode was the most watched in the series' history, brining in nearly 14 million viewers, and helping to bring the show even more attention.

The character Brittany, (played by Heather Morris) was dynamite, dancing like old school Britney, and helping to remind us how influential Spears has been in pop culture over the past 12 years.

I would have liked to see some other hits on the show (Womanizer, Crazy, Everytime), but I can't complain, I'm still reeling from excitement!

Did you watch the Glee/Britney episode? Thoughts???

R&B Divas, Return to Us!!

More Than Musiq is BACK, and with a new poll!!!

These ladies dominated the airwaves during the 90's and into the 2000's, but they've been MIA for quite some time now, musically speaking. Which is why More Than Musiq is now asking you to vote for Which R&B Diva Do You Want To See Have a Comeback?

The choices are as follows:

Jennifer Lopez: J*Lo was once the biggest star on the planet, but with her last two albums flopping and her most recent movies getting abysmal reviews and tanking at the box office, our girl from the Bronx is in desperate need of a comeback.

Ashanti: Her debut album sold nearly 4 million records and won a Grammy Award, but follow up records failed to reach the same success. She hasn't had a top 10 pop hit since 2004, so it'd be nice to hear some fresh tunes from the 30 year old.

Brandy: She's been in the limelight, but for all the wrong reasons. In 2006 she was involved in a fatal car accident that lead to the death of the driver in the other car. She's also been starring in her tacky reality show with her brother Ray J, and is now a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. But she's sold over 10 million records, and her last two albums have been met with critical acclaim. We want another "The Boy is Mine"!!!!

Toni Braxton: Her album sales make her one of the 25 best selling female artists of all time, with 6 Grammy awards and over 20 million in record sales under her belt. But weak album sales and legal trouble have kept Braxton under the radar for far too long. Her voice is too good to go unheard!!!

So people, don't forget to vote (at the bottom of the page), and let's bring these divas back to top form!!!

Sara Bareilles Has The #1 Album in the Country?

I don't mean any offense, but I'm sure most people didn't even know that Sara Bereilles had an album out!! Her second CD Kaleidoscope Heart sold 90,000 copies this week, a low number, but good enough to take the top spot.

Bareilles burst onto the scene in 2008 with her monster smash "Love Song", and has developed a loyal following ever since.

Good for her!

Here's a look at the rest of the top 10 albums this week:

1. Sara Bareilles Kaleidoscope Heart (90,000)

2. Eminem Recovery (81,000)

3. Now 35 (63,000)

4. Katy Perry Teenage Dream (59,000)

5. Disturbed Asylum (57,000)

6. Stone Sour Audio Secrecy (46,000)

7. Interpol Interpol (38,000)

8. Justin Bieber My World 2.0 (35,000)

9. Anberlin Dark is the Way, Light is the Place (31,000)

10. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (31,000)

You Love The Original Idol

The More Than Musiq poll has officially closed, and you guys have voted Kelly Clarkson as your all-time favorite American Idol contestant!!

This isn't super surprising considering Clarkson has become one of the biggest pop stars of the decade, scoring a bevy of hit singles and albums, 2 Grammy awards, and legions of fans all around the world.

Coming in second surprisingly is our girl Jennifer Hudson. The Oscar AND Grammy winner has become a bonafide superstar thanks to her big voice, and critically acclaimed acting chops! And now that she's super svelte, nothing can stop her now!

In third place you guys picked Carrie Underwood, who has, undoubtedly, become a country icon. She has sold more records than Kelly, won 5 Grammy awards, and the Academy of Country Music Awards 'Entertainer of the Year' award TWICE.

So it's safe to say that you voted for the right people! If I had to choose, these three ladies would be my favorite Idol contestants (with Fantasia a close 4th).

Stay tuned for a new poll!!

'Make Me Wanna Die' Surprisingly Doesn't Make Me Wanna die

Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen has always gotten on my nerves ever since she began dressing super goth and acting as if she were the spawn of Satan in a mini-dress. I always laugh at actors who's 'real passion' is music, start a shitty ass band, and then act as if they're rock gods. It makes me wanna hurl.

But...and I can't believe I'm saying this, I LOVE The Pretty Reckless, the band that Momsen fronts, which has scored with their single "Make Me Wanna Die". I laughed when I heard the title, but Momsen actually has a great voice, even if the lyrics are PG-13 death metal.

If you combined Evanescence, Courtney Love, and a punch if pop, you'd get The Pretty Reckless. "Make Me Wanna Die" topped the rock charts in the UK, and it's only a matter of time before it catches on here.

Watch the video for "Make Me Wanna Die" and try not to enjoy it!

I F***Ing Love This Song

As one half of the quirky duo Gnarls Barkley who produced the Grammy winning mega hit "Crazy", Cee Lo Green has always been at the forefront of eclectic, R&B/Funk infused jams, and his latest single delivers 100%.

"F*** You" has everyone on the web talking, saying that it could be the 'song of the year', and I have to agree!!

It's fun, catchy, and extremely infectious. and Green has always been able to sing like no other man in the business. This week the song debuts on the Hot 100 at #96, but is expected to make a substantial leap next week after its first full week of sales.

I'm hoping that the song turns into another monster smash for Cee Lo, who has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now.

Take a listen to "F*** You" and enjoy!!

Females Rule Billboard 200

As expected, Katy Perry's sophomore album Teenage Dream debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 this week, selling 192,000 copies, earning her her best sales week ever.

Perry's last album One of the Boys debuted at #9, but went on to sell over a million copies, thanks to her massive hits "I Kissed a Girl", "Hot N Cold", and "Waking up in Vegas".

Coming in at #2 this week is Fantasia's new album Back to Me which moved 117,000 units. The set also debuts at #1 on the top R&B albums chart. It's nice to see her comeback after her suicide attempt earlier this summer, and her latest single "Bittersweet" is already a top 10 R&b hit as well.

Here's a rundown of the top 10 albums of the week:

1. Katy Perry Teenage Dream (192,000)

5. Little Big Town The Reason Why (42,000)

Taylor Swift's "Mine" Blends into the Background

Taylor Swift recently released the first single off of her upcoming third album Speak Now called "Mine".

...I wanted to give myself some time to really listen to it and then make an educated assessment of the tune. And I have to say, I'm not too impressed.

Yes, it's catchy, yes, it's already a top 10 hit. But nothing in the song stands out to me as anything spectacular, and it's definitely not anything we haven't already heard off of her two previous albums.

But considering she has sold 10 million albums and 25 million digital songs, I'm putting money on the chances that this album will be another multi-platinum bonanza.

Emmy's Deliver

Now I'm not a fashion guru or anything, but I have to say that my pick for the best dressed of the night at the Emmy Awards is Lea Michelle!!!

Our fave Glee girl was smokin' in a dark blue Oscar de la Renta gown, and although she lost the Best Actress in a Comedy Series to Edie Falco, she's still a winner in my book!

Overall the Emmys were WAY better than past years, (I admit though that Neil Patrick Harris was a knockout host last year), and Jimmy Fallon gets the thumbs up for working the audience last night.

Modern Family and Mad Men were the big winners of the night, taking home the trophies for Best Comedy Series and Best Drama Series, with Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet taking home the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. For more on the Emmys head to EW.com.

Did you tune into the show this year? What did you think?

My Heart Just Stopped

Check out the pic of our girl Britney Spears from her upcoming Glee episode.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I seriously CAN'T WAIT. If you don't know, this image is replicating the shot of her and Madonna from her 2003 video "Me Against the Music".

So at least we know that they are performing this on the show!!

What other Britney classics would you want to hear on Glee???

The Return of Chris Brown?

Since he beat the crap out of Rihanna last year, Chris Brown has seen his career go from one of the hottest R&B/Pop stars in the world to a C-Level singer who can barely crack the top 40.

But his latest single "Deuces" is beginning to pick up steam. It has reached the top 5 on the R&B charts, and is beginning to score an audience in top 40 radio as well. This leads me to ask the question - Has enough time passed that people have finally forgiven him?

I mean, Brown was a HUGE star before he assaulted Rihanna (who was an even bigger star than he was so he was screweeedd), and obviously people like his music a lot.

Take a listen to "Deuces", and share your thoughts? Do you like the song? And if you do, are you ready to accept him back to the pop music world?

Holy Blood Lust Batman!

Check out the latest cover of Rolling Stone magazine, with True Blood hotties Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer completely naked and dripping with blood.

Soo scandalous!!!
True Blood is definitely one of the most provocative shows on TV, and this season has been so completely crazy! Have you been tuning into the hot/sexy/creepy/bloody-greatness of the show!?!

Mad About Belinda!

More Than Musiq has not done a birthday shout out in quite some time, but today's birthday girl has a special place in my heart.

It's Belinda Carlisle's birthday! The former lead singer of the Go-Go's who then embarked on a super successful solo career turns 52 today!

As the lead singer of the Go-Go's Carlisle became one of the most popular leading ladies in music in the 80's. Once the band broke up due to internal conflicts, drug addiction, and excessive partying, she became an ever bigger star as a solo artist.

Her first single "Mad About You" hit #3 on the charts, but her biggest single was yet to come. "Heaven is a place on Earth" became a massive #1 hit, earned Carlisle a Grammy nomination, and cemented her status as a leading pop hit-maker.

She collected 6 top 40 hits as a solo artist, and in the 90's and 2000's the Go-Go's reunited and have toured the world.

So Happy Birthday!!!

Steroids Win at the Box Office

Forget Muscley-Juicehead-Guido's, this weekend at the box office it was all about the muscley-juicehead-old guys.

Sylvester Stallone's testosterone-heavy film The Expendables took the top spot at the box office this weekend, earning a hefty $35 million dollars, enough to force Julia Roberts' comeback film Eat, Pray, Love to a runner-up debut.

While both films clearly had different target markets, (70% of EPL audience members were female), there was more of a mixed crowd who went to see Stallone, along with aged (but classic) action stars like Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke blow shit up.

Here's a look at the top ten highest grossing films this past weekend:

1. The Expendables ($35 million)

2. Eat, Pray, Love ($23.7 million)

3. The Other Guys ($18 million)

4. Inception ($11.4 million)

5.Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World ($10.5 million)

6. Despicable Me ($6.8 million)

7. Step Up 3D ($6.6 million)

8. Salt ($6.4 million)

9. Dinner for Schmucks ($6.3 million)

10. Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore ($4.1 million)

Sell, Sell, Sell, Baby

People are always wondering who the best selling female artists in the music industry are, and there are always a lot of false answers that circulate around.

Well today we will clear it all up!

I feel that when people say 'best-selling' they are referring to album sales, and not sales of singles, which is an important thing to clear up.

It's extremely difficult to calculate international album sales (with all of the random numbers floating around), so we're going to refer to the most reliable source: The Recording Industry Association of America!

When the question arises, names like Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey always come up, but the best-selling female artists of all time may surprise you. So without further ado, here are the top 10 female artists of ALL TIME (in the U.S.A.):

1. Barbra Streisand (71.5 million)*

- Yup! Babs has racked up the most sales for any female artist ever! The Funny Girl has consistently been making music and selling albums for the last five decades, as well as winning a gaggle of Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, Tony awards, and Oscars (that's right people, she's an EGOT.)

2. Madonna (64 million)

- The Material Girl has been in the spotlight since her debut self-titled album in 1983, and has racked up 11 #1 albums. Although sales have lagged in the 2000's, her catalogue continues to sell briskly, with her Immaculate Collection greatest hits record topping 10 million in sales.

3. Mariah Carey (63 million)

- It's a close race for second place, and it there's a VERY good possibility that Mariah could surpass Madonna in the next couple years. Although Madge has about 7 more years in the industry than Carey, Mrs. Nick Carter has crafted a pop career that is one of a kind. From the get go, it was all about chart dominance, with her first 5 singles reaching #1 on the Billboard charts, with three albums selling more than 9 million copies each.

4. Whitney Houston (55 million)

-It's been a rough decade, with the R&B diva battling drug addiction and a divorce, but Whitney was once the biggest pop star in the world, with one of the biggest voices in the business. What's interesting about Houston's album sales is the fact that 20 million of it comes from her two soundtracks. The Bodyguard is still the best-selling soundtrack ever, with 17 million sold, while the accompanying CD to Houston's The Preacher's Wife sold a solid 3 million.

5. Celine Dion (50 million)

- Sa Leeeeeen! The cleanest cut (and most well-behaved) of the divas has had a loyal fan base since her Francophone days, with her golden pipes and, um, 'quirky' stage personality, (I would have a cracked sternum if I hit my chest that much). Her albums Falling into You and Let's Talk about Love have both been certified diamond (for sales of over 10 million), and even though she isn't cranking out the hits like she use to, her albums consider to sell well.

6. Shania Twain (48 million)

- A lot of people are surprised by this, but Twain's 1997 album Come on Over is the best-selling album by a female artist...by FAR. It is the only album by a female to sell over 20 million copies in the U.S., and it accounts for close to half of her total album sales. Twain has not release new music since 2002's Up!, but don't count the Canadian beauty out just yet, something tells me there's more platinum plaques coming her way.

7. Reba McEntire (41 million)

- If you're not a country music fan, you may be surprised by Reba McEntire's position as the 7th best-selling female artists of all time. But if you are a country music fan, it's old news. McEntire is the undisputed queen of country, collecting 24 #1 country songs and nine multi-platinum records. Her recent single "Keep on Loving You" became her 58th top 10 country single.

8. Britney Spears (32 million)

- The youngest on the list (by far), there was no one in the late 90's and early 2000's who came close to selling as much as Britney. in 1999-2000 Spears earned back to back 10 million-plus selling albums, with ...Baby One More Time and Oops...I Did it Again! While she was first dismissed as a one-hit-wonder, the pop icon defied critics and has scored 17 top 40 singles, and a staggering 5 #1 albums. Up next? A Glee episode dedicated completely to her music, and it's rumored that she will be appearing on the show as well!!

9. Linda Ronstadt (30 million)

- In the 70's and 80's no one was hotter than Linda Ronstadt. The sultry singer was a fan favorite, cemented herself as one of the leading ladies in pop/rock/country music. Her greatest hits disc has sold 7 million copies in the U.S., and she has scored #1 singles on both the pop and country music charts.

10. Enya (26.5 million)

- Whenever I tell people that Enya is the 10th best-selling female artist of all time, I get a little giggle and the response "Really?" But the Irish chanteuse has a loyal following of easy listening fans. While she sold millions of albums throughout the 80's and 90's, her biggest commercial success came with 2001's A Day Without Rain, which has been certified 7x platinum for sales of over 7 million, thanks largely in part to her top 10 single, "Only Time". The album also resonated with Americans after 9/11, as the song became an anthem for people mourning for the country.

Delta Goodrem Good for the Soul

I've always wondered why Australian song bird Delta Goodrem never broke into the U.S. pop scene. She's young, talented, and stunningly beautiful, and is the undisputed pop princess of Aussie Land.

Her 2003 debut album Innocent Eyes is one of the biggest selling albums in the country's history, and Delta continues to release solid piano-pop tunes that I personally love.

So why have you never heard a song from her?

I would assume it's her record company, who either don't want to finance an American breakthrough, or perhaps it's Delta herself, who is content just dominating the Australian market.

In any case, I've been listening to her #1 single "Lost Without You" on repeat for quite some time now, and though I ought to share the greatness that is Delta Goodrem. Listen to the song here, and enjoy!

Will Ferrell Finally Has A Hit Movie

It's been a while, but it has finally happened.

Will Ferrell is starring in a hit movie again! The funny man's new flick The Other Guys co-starring Mark Wahlberg took the top spot at the Box Office this weekend with a reported $35.6 million.

I was starting to worry there that Mr. Ron Burgundy might not be able to pull the audiences in like he used to, but this proves that he's still got it!

Inception was pushed to #2 after three solid weeks on top and a total gross $228 million, becoming the 6th highest grossing film of the year so far.

Soo Gay, in a Good Way

The new trailer for Burlesque has hit the Internet, and it's a gay man's dream!!

The films stars none other than Cher and Christina Aguilera, and judging by the trailer, it has it all - singing, dancing, CHER, and of course, diva fighting for the spotlight!

The music sounds fantastic, I mean, how could it not with Christina singing? And Aguilera actually looks like she might be a decent actress, but that's just from seeing the trailer so who knows.

Check out the preview here, and get ready for some excitement!!

VMA's Go GooGoo for Gaga

The MTV Video Music Award nominations were announced yesterday, and to no one's surprise Lady Gaga scored a leading 13 nominations (a new record for the show), including nods for Video of the Year, Female Video, Pop Video, and Dance Video. The funny this is that in three of those above mentioned categories, Gaga is nominated TWICE. Her solo effort "Bad Romance" and her collaboration with Beyonce "Telephone" and "Videophone" all snagged a crap load of nominations.
Excessive, isn't it?

In the "WTF was MTV thinking?" category, Jared Leto's marginally popular band 30 Seconds to Mars grabbed a Video of the Year nomination for "Kings and Queens."

...um what?

Noticeable shut outs include the Black Eyed Peas and BRITNEY, with neither act scoring a nomination this year. (Although, in Brit's defense she didn't really have any new music out this past year, other than "3", and the video was nothing to shout about.)

Click here for a full list of nominations reported by Billboard.com. (MTV's site is too cluttered with silly things, Billboard gives you the nominees straight.)

It's Official: Katy Perry Has THE Song of the Summer

You voted for it! Katy Perry's inescapable hit "California Gurls" was voted as the biggest song of the summer, snaring 53% of the votes in this month's More Than Musiq poll.

I have to say I'm not really surprised; the song was #1 for 6 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, and is still saturating top 40 radio.

Coming in a close second was Drake's "Find Your Love", which garnered 46% of all votes. Drake has been riding high after the #1 debut of his album Thank Me Later, and "Love" is still dominating on multiple radio formats. Enrique Iglesias' comeback single "I Like It" was third with 38% of the votes, while Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" was a distant 4th with only 23%.
Stay tuned for the next More Than Musiq poll!!

Underwood Collects 10th #1 Single

This woman cannot be stopped. Seriously.

American Idol alum and country superstar Carrie Underwood scored her 10th #1 country this week, as "Undo It" rises to the top spot. This is the third chart topper from her most recent album Play On, and according to billboard.com Underwood ties Reba McEntire for the most chart leaders among women since the survey adopted Nielsen BDS-monitored airplay data as of Jan. 20, 1990.

Wow!

I think it's safe to say that Carrie is the most successful AI winner ever! Although I do love my Kelly Clarkson, Underwood has sold more records, even if she is not as widely known in the pop music world.

Congrats!!

Shortie I'ma Tell You This Once You're Tha Illest

You've probably heard her rhyming on tracks with Ludacris and Usher, and now Queens pint sized rapper Nicki Minaj is ready to blow up as the freshest female rapper to hit the scene in years.

Minaj is garnering mainstream success with her first single "Your Love" which has been sitting on top of the rap charts for weeks, and is a top 20 pop hit as well. She's the first female rap artist to hit #1 in 7 years, (come back Missy, please!!!) and gives the male-dominated rap world a much needed shot of estrogen.
Check out Minaj's "Your Love" and let More Than Musiq know whether you think she can be the next Missy, Lil Kim, or Eve?

Emmy Predictions Part 3

Alright folks, here's part 3 of More Than Musiq's Emmy predictions. This week we take a look at the drama queens, as well as outstanding drama series. And awayyy we go

Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series:

Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife)

Mariska Hargitay (Special Victims Unit)

Glenn Close (Damages)

Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)

January Jones (Mad Men)

Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights)

Winner: Margulies has pretty much got this one in the bag, after having already wona Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her role as the wife of a politician (played by Chris Noth) caught in a scandal. And everyone always loves an actor who wins for a second solid role (she took home an Emmy for her work in ER).

Who Could Upset: I'd love to see the stunning January Jones pull a surprise win in this category. Her portrayal of Don Draper's bitter ex is equal parts ice cold queen and vulnerable little girl.

Outstanding Drama Series:

Lost

Breaking Bad

Dexter

Mad Men

True Blood

The Good Wife

Winner: Mad Men. The critical darling just scored its best ratings ever for the season 4 premiere, with Don Draper having to rebuild his career and fix his personal life. It's a smart show, with arguably the strongest ensemble cast on television.

Who Could Upset: I would be happy to see True Blood or Dexter take this one. True Blood's pure outrageous nature makes it unlike anything else on TV, while the character Dexter (played by Emmy worthy Michael C. Hall) truly came into his own in the last season, trying to search within for what's left of his humanity. Both shows are addictive.

I Love Being Sucker Punched

The trailer for the March 2011 movie Sucker Punch has hit the web, and it looks ridiculously awesome!!

It's got hot babes kicking ass in an asylum, what more could you ask for? Well, hot men kicking ass would also be nice...

The film was hyped big time at Comic-Con over the weekend, as well and was also featured in Entertainment Weekly Magazine. It stars a number of young actresses, including Vanessa Hudgens.

Take a look at the trailer and see the badass-ness for yourself!

Love The Way This Sounds

I don't think I've liked an Eminem song in probably 5 years (Lose Yourself was super epic and I joined the masses with that one), but his latest duet with Rihanna has completely got me back into the Slim Shady world.

"Love the way you Lie" is the best rap/sung duet this year, (that's saying a lot, considering Jay-Z and Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind" was such a knockout), and I simply just CANNOT stop listening to it!

Eminem has always been a fierce lyricist, but he's been missing some of his swagger and attitude before his latest album Recovery came out last month. The album has catapulted him back to superstardom, as it sits at #1 for the 4Th consecutive week, and "Love the way you Lie" replaces Katy Perry's "California Gurls" as the #1 song in the country.

I have to say though, the reason why this song is so huge is thanks largely in part to Rihanna. As the ultimate hook girl, Rihanna has supplied some of the best choruses to some rap/sung classics (T.I.'s "Live Your Life", Jay-Z's "Run This Town", etc.)

If RiRi wasn't on this track it would definitely not be as popular. It happens to be her 7Th #1 single since 2005, the most out of any artist int that span of time.

If you haven't heard the song, take a listen to "Love the way you Lie"
