Artist To Watch: Owl City

The new #1 song in the country is not Britney, or Jay Sean, or even Miley Cyrus; it's an unknown singer who goes by the name Owl City.

Born Adam Young, Owl City's new single "Fireflies' rockets 7-1 on the Hot 100 this week to claim the number one spot.

His sound is reminiscent of the Postal Service, very light with electro beats and quirky little blips every so often, and the song is damn catchy.

It's a good year for new artists like Owl City, who have scored huge hits the year. last week's #1 was the debut single from Jay Sean, who's "Down" has become an international hit. And let's not forget about Drake, who has scored multiple hits

  1. I have to say, that if songs like this one are what the fusion between emo/electric and pop is going to be like, we're all in for a lot of terrible music coming at us in the next few years. This song is TERRIBLE.

    Example Lyrics:
'Cuz I'd get a thousand hugs
    From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me
    how to dance.

Is this a JOKE? I'm offended.

  2. I don't like it Tim, not one bit. This band is brutal, it's a pop mixture of Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service but they manage not to be as good as either of those two bands.
