New Music Now: Leona Hits The High Notes
Even though her second album was a HUGE bomb, Leona Lewis can still sing that crap out of pretty much anything that's sent her way. Case in point: Lewis sings the theme song to the new James Cameron flick Avatar. The song's called "I See You" and it's an intense power ballad along the lines of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" (that was coincidentally the theme song to Cameron's other mega-box office titan, Titanic.
The song is big, and I mean REALLY big. The vocals are huge, the arrangement is epic, it just goes along really well with what could be another huge movie for the Cameron brand.
And the song is way better than anything off of Lewis' new album.
Take listen to Leona Lewis' "I See You"

How many records did she sell, U.S. and U.K.? The lead single off of her album was not strong. Note to record execs, do NOT release and album if the lead single is not strong enough. It's unfortunate to sing a talented singer like Leona have a sophomore slump.
ReplyDeleteWell her debut album Spirit sold nearly 6 million copies worldwide; It went platinum int he USA and sold 2.8 million in the UK (that's 9x platinum!)
ReplyDeleteHer follow-up Echo has sold just over 100,000 copies in the states, while it's been modestly received back in her native UK (where's it's sold about 400,000).
Her single "Happy" was definitely WEAK, nothing compared to "Bleeding Love", which was the #1 Biggest song in the WORLD in 2008
