Grammy Predictions: Part 3

The Best Dance Recording category is never broadcasted during the actual Grammy Awards ceremony, usually because the artists nominated were rarely huge stars, with only some exceptions.

But this year the group of nominees is as star-studded as any BIG category, and so it's worth taking a look. Here's the list of who's up for the award this year:

The Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow"

David Guetta Featuring Kelly Rowland "When Love Takes Over"

Lady Gaga "Poker Face"

Madonna "Celebration"

Britney Spears "Womanizer"

Who Will Win:

Lady Gaga. I hate to say it, because I'll always root for Britney, but Gaga defined dance music this year with songs that were completely new and fresh, and "Poker Face" was inescapable. Plus, it really was the best dance song of the year.

Who Should Win:

Lady Gaga. "Boom Boom Pow" is actually a really really TERRIBLE song, and I've been reeling with anguish due to all of the nominations they received this year. Guetta is too new to the Grammy game to win, and his track with Rowland is a fairly generic Euro-trash club song. Madonna is usually always up for this award, and although Celebration is classic Madge, it's nothing special either.

"Womanizer" was Spears' comeback single, and everybody loves a comeback, so there is a slight (and I mean VERY slight) chance that she could pull of an upset. Although to be honest "Circus" was a better song and a better choice for this category.

  2. It would be refreshing to see Gaga take this award. She has definitely had a remarkable year, and no one can deny that her songs made us all get on the dance floor! I wouldn't exactly call Guetta's song trashy Euro-pop, but it is clear that his song did not deliver the same punch as some of the other songs in the category, even with the help from Destiny's Child second favorite member, Kelly Rowland. I am absolutely sick of Boom Boom Pow. Quite frankly I never liked the song. I would also be surprised if Womanizer won. For now it looks like the award goes to GAGA!! GAGA OOO LA LA!
