MTV Movie Awards: Predictions

Although it's kind of like the ugly red-headed step sister of the VMA's, I still think the the MTV Movie Awards are fun and entertaining. You just need to remember that it's not a real awards show, so take the winners with a grain of salt.

The usual suspects are all in the running; New Moon, Avatar, The Blind Side, and all of its stars managed to snag nominations as well. Here's a run down of some of the categories and my predictions as to who will win!!

BEST FEMALE PERFORMANCE

Amanda Seyfried in Dear John

Emma Watson in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Sandra Bullock in The Blindside

Zoe Saldana in Avatar

Now you can immediately just erase Seyfried from this category. She's definitely got some acting chops by Dear John is as good a movie as Lindsay Lohan is a role model. Watson has seen some real growth over the last decade portraying Hermione Granger in the Potter series, and she has her best role yet in the darker Half-Blood Prince installment. Saldana was good...as a CGI blue N'Avi creature, but I'm not sure if people even knew it was her...

So that leaves Stewart and Bullock. With her portrayal of super emotional-lip biting-awkward teen Bella Swan, K-Stew took home this same award for the role in the original movie last year, and look for her to do it again. Bullock took home the OSCAR for her role in The Blindside, but the MTV crowd could give two Sh**'s about that. My money is on Stewart.

BEST MALE PERFORMANCE

Channing Tatum in Dear John

Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Robert Pattinson in The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Taylor Lautner in The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Zac Efron in 17 Again

Hahahahaha! I'm sorry, this category is too much. I mean, ZAC EFRON in 17 AGAIN!? Surely you jest. I love me some Zaquisha but please. The good thing about this category is that not one of these performances is good, so it's easier to make a decision. Again, Tatum may be a stone cold fox, but Dear John is about as critically acclaimed as Gigli. Radcliffe is showing so real gusto in this latest installment, but he's filler in this category.

The real battle is between Pattinson and Lautner. When the original Twilight came out, it was all about Edward, but now the tables have turned! Don't be surprised if young Lautner steals Pattinson's thunder. They're both big stars now, so it's almost a toss up. But I'm gonna go with Lautner, because although both of them kind of sucked, I could grate cheese on his abs.

BEST MOVIE

Alice in Wonderland

Avatar

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Hangover

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

The biggest category of the night is also the most fun, because there are actually some awesome movies up this year! Harry Potter can go; it was a good movie, but it doesn't hold up against the amazing visuals of Avatar or the insane hilariousness of The Hangover. Alice was a spectacle but didn't quite come together. And New Moon can get outta here too- even though the original won for best movie last year, this year's a little different.

So that leaves Avatar, which I believe will definitely win movie of the year. EVERYONE and sister saw it, and it was also a critical darling as well as a commercial powerhouse. (I'm sure you know already but it is the HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE EVER.)

I saw it three times, and will see it again. This year's winner for MTV's movie of the year is AVATAR.

As If His Head Needed to Get Any Bigger

It has just been announced that Simon Cowell will be receiving knighthood next week, by order of the Queen of England. There have been a number of famous Brit's who have been knighted, including Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John, just to name a few. We also have Dame Judi Dench and some other iconic British acts!

But does Cowell really need more reason to boast about how awesome he is? Granted, he has been the anchor for the most popular show of the last decade, as well as his UK show the X Factor, which has found such superstars as Leona Lewis.

So I guess it's well deserved. But he's still a cocky bloke.

Who Is the Most Successful Idol??

Billboard released a fun little list naming the top 24 most successful American Idol contestants after they left the show.

From 24-10 it's all pretty blah; anyone remember Diana DeGarmo?Allison Iraheta? I thought so.

But the top 10 is pretty interesting, and all of the AI alums in the upper reaches of this list have had pretty successful careers so far.

But who is the #1 most successful Idol? It's been a hot topic over the last couple of years, because there are two powerhouse winners who have cemented their place in music history.

So who is it? Kelly or Carrie? Drum roll please........

It's KELLY CLARKSON!

Billboard measured their success by calculating their album sales, track sales, and radio airplay, and the original Idol came out on top. Although Carrie Underwood has sold more albums that Clarkson, Kelly has had TONS more airplay from her multiple smash hits like Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, and My Life Would Suck Without You. She has also sold about 2 million more tracks (singles) than Underwood has as well.

In third place was Chris Daughtry, who only finished 4th in 2006, but had the last laugh when he scored a 4x platinum debut album and has become the most successful male AI alum ever.

Here are the top 10 most successful American Idol contestants:

1. Kelly Clarkson

2. Carrie Underwood

3. Chris Daughtry (Daughtry)

4. Jordin Sparks

5. David Cook

6. Clay Aiken

7. Kellie Pickler

8. David Archuleta

9. Fantasia

10. Ruben Studdard

Glee + Britney = PERFECTION

There's been a big push to get an all Britney Spears episode of Glee, and now the creator's are saying that it might happen!!

AHhhh!!!!

That would be amazing! Creator Ryan Murphy has said that he's talked to Britney and her people and that it might be happening, although they want to make sure they don't do too many tribute episodes.

I agree, Glee can't just be a marketing machine for artists who want to sell a couple more million Itunes downloads. BUT, Britney would be an amazing tribute episode; she has an ENORMOUS amount of hit songs they can choose from! And even if they decided not to do a tribute ep, they could still use a number of her songs!

Keep your fingers crossed!

OMG! Usher Collects His Ninth #1 Single

Although it's definitely not at the same caliber as 2004's "Yeah", Usher sees his latest single "OMG" rise 6-1 this week on the Hot 100, giving the R&B superstar his 9th number one single.

He is now tied with Elton John and the Bee Gees for the 10th artist with the most number singles in HISTORY.

Pretttyyy impressive if I do say so myself.

Not so impressive though, is how bland and cliche "OMG" actually is. Everyone, including Usher, has jumped on the auto-tune bandwagon, and this song is just soo not as good as his previous hits.

But it's nice to see him back on top; Usher's had a phenomenal career, but has seen lagging album sales since his 10x platinum iconic Confessions was released in 2004.

As a tribute to his 15 year career, here' a look at Usher's 9 number one singles, as well as the sales for his six studio albums:

Usher's #1 Singles:

1998: Nice & Slow

2001: U remind Me
2001: U Got It Bad

2004: Yeah!
2004: Burn
2004: Confessions Part II
2004: My Boo (With Alicia Keys)

2008: Love in This Club

2010: OMG

Usher's Album Sales:

1994: Usher (50,000)

1997: My Way (6 million)

2001: 8701 (4 million)

2004: Confessions (10 million)

2008: Here I Stand (1 million)

2010: Raymond Vs. Raymond (538,000 and counting)

Shakira Shaking it Up on Tour

International superstar Shakira has announced that she will be going on tour in North America, starting with performances at Madison Square Garden, Houston's Toyota Center, and L.A.'s Staples Center, beginning September 21.

Hmmm...those are some pretty large venues...you think she can fill them?

Shakira's last studio album She Wolf only sold about 300,000 copies, and was considered a huge disappointment. Then again, she is one of those artists who has such a large, loyal fan base, that they might go see her anyway!

Her appeal is international, having been one of the most successful Latin artists of all time, as well as successfully crossing over to Engligh-language albums. Her most successful album in the U.S. was 2001's Laundry Service, which is certified 3-times platinum but the RIAA for sales of over 3 million.

Britney Does Telephone

Before Lady Gaga and Beyonce recorded the top 3 smash "Telephone", Gaga had originally given the song to our very own queen of pop, Britney Spears, for her #1 album Circus.

Brit decided that she didn't want it on her record, so Gaga decided to record it for herself, and now she has her 6th top ten hit.

But NOW, the demo version of Britney singing "Telephone" has leaked on the internet!!! It's a rough cut, but it's definitely Britney! Her signature, nasally growl is all over the track, and if it was finished it definitely would have been a huge single for her!

Take a listen to Britney's version of "Telephone"

In more Britney news, superstar producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jenkins confirms that he's been talking to Brit's people about her 7th studio album!

YESssss!!

I cannot WAIT for Britney to release new music. It's crazy to think that this will be her 7th album; Her last 6 albums have ALL gone to #1 (with the exception of Blackout, which settled for a #2 debut because Billboard changed its sales policy the DAY they released the charts), and she is the 8th best-selling female artist of all time!

GO BRITNEY!
